Lowe’s, JCPenney to open new store in New York
Lowe’s and JCPensney have teamed up to open the new Lowes & JCP store in Brooklyn, a retail and wholesale giant announced Tuesday.
The new store will open in the Flatiron District, across the street from the Empire State Building, according to the New York Post.
The store will be the first store of its kind in the U.S. Lowes, which also operates the popular discount retailer TJ Maxx, announced plans to open a store in Manhattan’s Lower East Side in 2019.
It plans to expand the store to New York City, according the Post.
Lowe’s &: JCP is the world’s largest home improvement retailer, with a footprint in over 150 countries and stores in nearly 200 countries.
The company employs over 1,400 people in the United States and around 20,000 in Mexico.
Lowe’s, which has been a fixture in the American home for more than 70 years, has been expanding its footprint in recent years.
In 2019, the company added a new store, located in the Upper West Side, to its New York store network.
Last year, the retailer announced plans for its largest-ever expansion into New York, with plans to add two more stores and open more than 300 stores across the country.
