‘No way we’re going to miss this’: The Rams are a perfect fit for the Rams
LONDON — Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher was not disappointed when his team won Sunday’s game over the Cincinnati Bengals, but he said he’s “not sure” he’s going to make the playoffs.
Fisher was fired in January after the Rams failed to make a playoff push during the past two seasons.
Fisher and the Rams had the second-best record in the NFL last season, but they didn’t have the second best record in 2017.
The Rams’ offense struggled, and the defense finished last in total yards allowed and sacks.
Fisher said he doesn’t believe in any particular plan, but there was a lot of good stuff going on in the team.
“We’re a good football team, but the players are still learning and we have a lot to learn,” Fisher said.
“It’s not going to be easy.
You have to get to a point where you have to find ways to play together.”
He said he still believes in his plan to bring back a former offensive coordinator, Adam Gase.
“Adam is a good guy and I’m going to trust him,” Fisher told reporters.
“I know he has a lot on his plate.
We’re going out there today and trying to win, which is going to take a lot.”
The Rams finished 10-3 last season and advanced to the NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints.
“Every week, we’re trying to find some ways to get better,” Fisher added.
“You have to do a lot better.
We’ve got a lot going on and you’ve got to find your way.”
Rams coach Adam Gases was named offensive coordinator in January.
He was fired the next season after the team went 11-5 and won the NFC West.
Rams fans were upset when he was let go, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting his team better.
The NFL has fined the Rams $25,000 for failing to report wins and losses for the 2015 season.
The team had the 10th-best offense in the league last season.
Fisher is hoping that this year’s offense will continue to improve.
“Our team has some young guys that have played a lot in the past couple years and we’ve got some big, young, physical guys that can make plays and make plays with some speed,” Fisher explained.
“That’s what we need.”
