‘Mystery’: A mystery of a ‘mystery shopper’ who left her husband’s money in a store
A mystery shopper left her £20,000 in cash in a department store in Liverpool yesterday.
It is believed the mystery shoeter left her savings on her credit card to pay for her Christmas shopping.
It comes after her husband left his £40,000 account in the same shop for several months.
Police have launched an investigation after the woman’s husband contacted them about the incident.
Officers have contacted the woman and her husband, but have so far been unable to contact them.
The woman told officers she left her credit cards at home as a ‘spare change’ for her husband.
She also left £2,500 cash at home in her bank account.
Detectives are now investigating.
DetectIVE DETECTIVE: Detectives from the Crime Investigation Team have launched a major investigation into the disappearance of the woman, who left a £20 000 note in a Liverpool department store yesterday.
Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Macleod said: ‘It’s believed the woman left her money in her account for her shopping.’
She left the note at home for a few months and when she returned she left a few hundred pounds in cash, which she then deposited into her credit in her name.’
Her husband then reported this to the police, who are now in contact with her.’
I can confirm that a member of the public has contacted us in relation to the incident.’
Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Johnson, from West Yorkshire Police, said: ”The woman has been cooperative and has given us a number of statements from her in relation the incident yesterday.’
This is a very significant investigation, and we are very keen to get to the bottom of it.”
