Gertz is an ‘iconic’ figure

A senior executive at a major department store chain has been awarded the prestigious George Polk Award for “excellence in retail excellence”.

The George Polk Awards is given annually by the American Council on Education to a “legendary individual who has distinguished his or her profession through his or the industry”.

The award recognises “individuals whose outstanding contributions to the profession of retail trade, and particularly to its retail business, have been significant”.

“In recent years, I have been privileged to serve as executive vice president of the American Stores Association and to have the opportunity to serve on the Board of the National Retail Federation,” Gerts wrote in a statement.

“I have a lifelong passion for this profession and I will continue to strive for excellence.”

Gertz, a well-known retailer, also heads a retail design consultancy.

He has been a regular guest at US President Donald Trump’s annual Mar-a-Lago resort, which was designed by his wife, Melania.

The US is a major market for GertZ.

His company is one of the largest US retail players.

GertZ is one among a group of retailers that has recently been given new life, including Macy’s and Kohl’s, as well as Amazon, Starbucks and Target.

The US government has also stepped up its efforts to encourage the sector.
